Lab 15. RIP Summary Address


RIP Route Summarization (Summary Address) berfungsi untuk meningkatkan skalabilitas dan efisiensi dalam jaringan yang besar dengan meringkas route di dalam tabel routing RIP. Di dalam IP Summarization tidak ada entri untuk child routes, dan ini berfungsi untuk mengurangi ukuran tabel routing sehingga menjadi lebih ramping, semakin sedikit barisnya maka kinerja cpu dan memori juga akan lebih ringan, dapat mengurangi waktu proses yang diperlukan dan memungkinkan router untuk menangani lebih routing.


Tujuan Lab :
  • Memperlajari cara mengkonfigurasi summarization untuk menggabungkan beberapa route menjadi satu sehingga routing tabelnya menjadi ringkas.
Topologi Lab :



Metode Lab :
  • Konfigurasikan pengalamatan IP untuk topologi di atas
  • Pada Router R1 dibuat beberapa IP Loopback /32
  • Advertise semuanya ke RIP
  • Pastikan semua route tersebut muncul di sisi Router R2 dan R3
  • Konfigurasikan summarization untuk menggabungkan beberapa route tersebut
Verifikasi Lab :
  • Kondisi awal sebelum summarization cek routenya di sisi Router R2 dan R3
  • Setelah summarization dikonfigurasikan di Router R1, pastikan route yang disummarize munculnya hanya satu route saja baik di Router R2 dan R3

Dapat anda lihat dari tabel routing di atas sangat banyak child route nya, untuk itu mari kita ringkas (summary). Di sini yang akan saya summary yaitu network 10.x.x.x dan 11.x.x.x saja.

Bisa kita lihat ukuran tabel routing pada Router R2 dan R3 lebih ramping dari pada sebelumnya. Manfaatnya seperti yang sudah dijelaskan di awal. Analoginya jika anda mencari buku di perpustakaan A yang memiliki koleksi buku sejumlah 100 buah dan perpustakaan B dengan koleksi buku 10 buah, maka anda akan lebih mudah mencarinya di perpustakaan B.
